The list of players Dusty Baker was teammates with or managed is insane

If there are any figures that have lived more interesting baseball lives than Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker, you can probably count them on one hand. Baker had a 19-year playing career as an outfielder, making two All-Star teams during a career that saw him play for four different franchises. He's now managing his fifth team, and the three-time Manager of the Year is currently 12th in Major League history with 1,987 career wins.

World Series 2021: Freddie Freeman's Fall Classic moment with the Atlanta Braves has finally arrived

Freddie Freeman's batting practice sessions, by his own admission, are the most boring in baseball. He does nothing but hit line drives into left field, over and over. Picture a slicing liner that barely clears the glove of a leaping shortstop and you'll get the idea of each ball's trajectory. And now picture this happening repeatedly, with metronomic precision, every swing the same, and you'll get an idea of its meditative quality. It's like watching someone casually paint a wall, each brushstroke traveling the same distance.

Who Is Freddie Freeman's Wife, Chelsea Freeman?

In baseball, there are a few names that dominate the game. We are talking, of course, about players like A-Rod, Derek Jeter, and (long ago, but still) Hank Aaron. However, with every new season comes a new batch of players to watch. This year, all eyes are on those taking part in the Braves versus Astros World Series, per ESPN, with Game 1 on October 26. One of the bigger names in the mix is Freddie Freeman, first baseman for the Atlanta Braves.

Book review: Cobra by Dave Parker

Dave Parker had a 19-year career in Major League Baseball, 11 of which were spent on the Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished with a lifetime slash line of .290/.339/.471 with 339 homers and 1,493 RBIs. There’s some sentiment in favor of his election to the Hall of Fame. To me, he’s in that second tier that falls just short, but then again, I’d be a tough voter. That’s another subject for another day.

MLB playoffs 2021: The one pitch that will make (or break) October

It was an impossible home run, saving a game and perhaps a season. A noticeable percentage of the Dodger Stadium crowd had already departed to their cars in the vast parking lot at Chavez Ravine as Cody Bellinger came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning of Game 3 of the NLCS. Trailing 5-2 after losing the first two games, the Dodgers needed something shocking to happen.
