NFL mock draft 2021: Mel Kiper's final predictions for top 32 picks, including surprise quarterback fits and three trades

One more mock draft, with the first round of the 2021 NFL draft beginning later tonight. This is one of the most mysterious drafts I've covered in my 43 years of doing this. The disrupted and delayed college football season, the prospects who opted out, no combine, scarce medical reports -- it all makes for what could be a wild Round 1 and trade-happy Days 2 and 3.

My first and final mock draft of the Panthers 2021 draft season

Those of you that know me, know that I am not a fan of spending a lot of time on mock drafts. They just aren’t my thing. I won’t dog any of you that love to do them, and love to make little tweaks and play out all the “what if” scenarios, I just am not that guy. I envy the amount of time you have on your hands though, and cannot wait to have that luxury.

2021 NFL Mock Draft 5.0: Six First-Round Quarterbacks; Three Projected Trades

My annual crack at the mock draft is normally a one-time deal. This does not mean I slam it down like a holy tome or attempt to cozy up to the legacy of our great mock draft godfather, Paul Zimmerman. Not even close (and I’d have to get more than five right in a given season to start feeling that way). For me, handling the mock draft this way simply reflects the way you can fall in love with a certain way things could go. Based on some phone calls and intuition, you end up slotting people in a certain place and creating a version of the universe that fits neatly together. But as a wise former coworker once reminded me, that universe is only in one place: the brain of the author.

PFT’s one, and only, mock draft of the year

Mock drafts are like opinions and bungholes. Everybody has one, and they all stink, except maybe your own. We used to do umpteen versions of mock drafts. That was before I developed a thorough and complete hatred of them. In recent years, we’ve shifted to a one-shot mock draft, with no concern for accuracy and no pride in authorship. Especially since I have now exported the assignment to a seasoned scout who currently is not employed by any team but whose credentials would not be questioned if his name were to be mentioned.

2021 NFL Mock Draft: Washington trades into top 10 for Justin Fields in Pete Prisco's final mock draft

This year's final mock might have been one of the toughest I've ever done. It's crazy out there in those streets. With all the rumors and gossip going around the league, most personnel people I talked with say this is a tough year to predict. We know the first two picks — or we think we do — but after that, starting with the uncertainty with the 49ers at No. 3, it's hard to gauge this year's first round.

2021 Final Mock Draft

We’re just hours away from the 2021 NFL Draft officially beginning, so now’s the time to release one final mock draft. As with any mock, the key is the rules by which the picks are made. The first rule is I am assuming no trades. We know that won’t happen and I will immediately throw my mock into disarray, but for the purposes of this mock, we are pretending everyone stays where they are.
