Laporte Legion, Auxiliary host 20th anniversary 911 ceremony

The Laporte American Legion Post 462 and Auxiliary Unit held a 911 ceremony Saturday morning at the Veteran’s Memorial in downtown Laporte. Speaker Jim Smith was assisted by patriotic Dalaney Clyde at the bell ringing ceremony for the fallen. Katheran Johnson sang the National Anthem followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Lakeport Fire Department, led by Chief Kevin Day, Minnesota State Troopers, former students of Jim Smith, and the “In Country Vietnam Veterans,” also attended the event.

MN troopers arrest 69 protesting Line 3 pipeline after some chained themselves to the fence outside the Gov.’s mansion

Minnesota State Troopers on Saturday arrested 69 people protesting Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 replacement pipeline project in front of the Governor’s Residence in St. Paul. The group moved their protest to the residence on Summit Avenue after being told to remove rally structures from the Capitol grounds Friday after their event permit expired Thursday evening. Four people were arrested there.

Suspected Intoxicated Driver Causes Head-On Crash in Golden Valley

Minnesota State Troopers, along with Golden Valley Police and Fire responded to a two vehicle crash near Highway 169 & Plymouth Ave on Wednesday evening around 11:30 PM. A preliminary investigation indicates that one vehicle involved in the crash was traveling the wrong way on Highway 169 before striking the other vehicle head-on.
