Metro police identify suspect accused of firing shot inside West Nashville Walmart

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police have identified a suspect accused of firing a shot inside the Walmart on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville back in June. Police say 25-year-old Nicquise Trevon Betts fired a single shot inside the store on June 23 after getting into a brief argument with another shopper, causing patrons to run for safety. No one was injured in the shooting.

James Edward Cowan, 28, was apprehended Tuesday night as the car in which he was riding backed into a parking spot at a Hickory Hollow Place apartment complex. MNPD undercover detectives, TBI & ATF agents surveilled the car as it traveled to the apartment complex from a Sidco Drive motel. It is suspected that Cowan had been staying at the motel for the past few days.

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Metro Police said a Nashville man died after an apparent exchange of gunfire in a parking lot near Vanderbilt early Saturday morning. Police said Dontario Graham, 20, died after an exchange of gunfire between two unidentified men. After the initial gunfire around 1:15 a.m. in a parking lot behind 1602 21st Ave. S., several others reportedly retrieved handguns. More than 100 shots were fired during the incident.
