(CNN) — According to Machine Gun Kelly, "Love is pain!" That is what the rapper and actor told Vogue in a joint interview with his new fiancée, actress Megan Fox. Kelly was explaining the "thoroughbred Colombian emerald" and diamond engagement ring he had designed for Fox with the emerald "just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine."
The devil's in the details when it comes to Megan Fox's engagement ring from Machine Gun Kelly!. The rapper (real name: Colson Baker) and actress opened up to Vogue this past weekend in Milan amid their attendance at the Dolce & Gabanna fall 2022 menswear show, where Kelly, 31, noted that his new fiancée's custom two-stone ring includes "bands [that] are actually thorns."
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox gave their first real interview on their engagement to Vogue during Dolce & Gabbana's Milan show. There, Kelly revealed a surprise fact about the gorgeous diamond and emerald ring he had designed for Fox: It has thorns in it, so it'll be painful for Fox to remove.
Late on Saturday night at a dinner for around 40 people in Milan’s Martini Bar, Colson Baker and Domenico Dolce proposed a toast. It was to celebrate a headline-making engagement that had just gone down a storm. Because the engagement wasn’t the one you might be thinking of, however, there was no question that we drank anything but Prosecco. The toast and the dinner we’d just finished was to celebrate that afternoon’s highly-collaborative menswear show at which the fall 2022 menswear collection by Dolce & Gabbana had shared the Teatro Metropole runway with Machine Gun Kelly (Baker’s high-caliber stage name). As Vogue Runway’s review recounted, it was a blast.
The latest shtick from Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox involves a painstakingly designed engagement ring—emphasis on pain. As MGK, born Colson Baker, told Vogue, the teardrop emerald ring he proposed to Fox with under a banyan tree in Puerto Rico was designed to have a thorny consequence should she remove it from her finger. In his own words …
OK, full disclosure: before I begin this piece, I have to confess that when news broke of Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox’s engagement – the pair allegedly “drank each other’s blood” to celebrate – I had a lot of texts from friends pointing me towards the... unique qualities of Fox’s engagement ring and telling me I would “love” it. A pear-cut emerald (Fox’s birthstone) set next to a pear-cut diamond (Kelly’s), the art deco-style jewels are set, allegedly, on two magnetic bands of thorns that Kelly said in an Instagram post were intended to “draw together as two...
Machine Gun Kelly Says He Designed Megan Fox’s Engagement Ring So It Will Hurt If She Ever Takes It Off
Hopefully, Megan Fox never needs to take off her new engagement ring for an MRI or to wash the dishes, or else she’s going to be in for a world of pain. Apparently, her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly designed her custom ring so that it’s actually painful to remove. The couple spoke to Vogue at the Dolce & Gabanna fall 2022 menswear show on Saturday about their relationship and that massive new bauble on Fox’s finger. The musician pointed out that his design features “bands [that] are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts,” adding, “Love is pain!” He went on to highlight some other unique elements of his fiancée’s ring, explaining, “It’s a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment. It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine. And the diamond was directly from [jeweler] Stephen [Webster].” He continued, “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart.”
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox aren’t like other couples (except Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian); they’re an edgy pop-goth couple with edgy pop-goth tastes. Exhibit A: Their engagement, which saw MGK, dressed like a glamorous Foot Locker employee, get down on one knee to present Fox, dressed like vacation Morticia Addams, with a large and sparkly ring that … bites. The singer, whose legal name is Colson Baker, explained the custom Stephen Webster heart design — a detail we previously overlooked — in an interview with Vogue. (Apologies for the oversight; we were dazzled by this man’s sparkly ref shirt.) Italics mine:

A single, shimmering rock may be classic, but when it comes to sweet symbolism, there’s nothing like the two-stone (or “toi et moi”) engagement ring. Most recently exemplified by Megan Fox’s sparkler from Machine Gun Kelly set with both stars’ birthstones — a diamond for the rock star, an emerald for the actress — the romantic style dates all the way back to the 18th century.
Meghan Markle's supporters jumped to her defense after speculation surfaced that Megan Fox's two-stone engagement ring cost more than the Duchess of Sussex's. Fox recently got engaged to Machine Gun Kelly, who reportedly helped design the emerald and diamond engagement ring he gave the actress. "I know tradition is one...
