International Friendly Live Commentary: Nepal vs India

Another disappointing night for India against SAFF rivals. India did enjoy more possession and ended the on a superior note. But Igor Stimac’s men still look far from a well-oiled team. The game was full of disjointed, sloppy passes and wayward shots. Both sides looked well short of proper coordination. The culmination was seen in Chinglensana’s ill-timed backpass for Gurpreet Singh Sandhu despite having time and space on the ball. Anjan Bista intercepted the ball well before Gurpreet could clear it and slotted it home into an empty net. With his side managing no shots on target in the first half, Stimac turned to his bench. India did improve once Anirudh Thapa came on in the second half. But Men in Blue still looked to their captain Sunil Chhetri for inspiration and like on most occasions, the 37-year-old provided it. Thapa pounced on the rebound from Chhetri’s shot from outside the box and scored to put India on level. Both teams meet again on September 5 (Sunday) and both will hope for a better result. Till then, this is Hari Thoyakkat signing off for Khel Now. Thanks and Good Night, Ladies & Gentlemen.

AFC Cup 2021 Live Commentary: ATK Mohun Bagan Vs Bashundhara Kings

It wasn’t easy at all, but ATK Mohun Bagan have booked a place in the AFC Cup inter-zone playoff semi-finals by winning their Group. The Mariners had to do it the hard and come back from being a goal down once again. Bashundhara Kings were definitely the better side for the majority of the first half, scoring an impressive goal and controlling the game well. However, the red card for defender Sushanto Tripura proved to be a game-changer, as it allowed the Mariners to play more attacking football in the second half and get the equalizer through David Williams after the hour mark. The Bangladeshi side tried their best to get another one after that, but were unable to do so with 10 men. ATK Mohun Bagan will play their inter-zone playoff semifinals on September 22nd, but their opposition side has not been decided yet. AFC Cup 2021 Live Commentary: ATK Mohun Bagan Vs Maziya S&RC

After a sloppy first half, ATK Mohun Bagan tuned up their style to blow away Maziya S&RC in the second half. Clever substitutions from Antonio Habas made it possible, with both Ashutosh Mehta and Hugo Boumous being pivotal in creating all 3 goals. Boumous, in particular, ran the show from the moment he came on and proved why the Mariners have signed him for such a big fee. ATKMB’s defending was disappointing throughout the game, which is something Habas will look to improve in order to get a result against Basudhara Kings. Fortunately for the Mariners, the equation for them is simple in the final game. Just avoid defeat and qualify for the knockout rounds! We’ll be back with more action from the AFC Cup on Tuesday.
