Aroostook County man arrested after leading 100 mph police chase

A Caribou man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase through a number of towns in The County on Friday night. Colter Cross, 33, was traveling over the speed limit on Route 11 at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday when police attempted to pull him over, according to Corporal Dennis Quint of Troop F of the Maine State Police.

Caribou Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Through Several Towns

A Caribou man faces numerous charges after leading police on a high speed chase Friday night through several towns, including Masardis, Ashland and Caribou. Maine State Police say the pursuit began around 10:15 p.m. on Route 11 in Township 8 Range 5, near Saint Croix Township. Corporal Dennis Quint said he attempted to stop a sport utility vehicle for a speeding violation, but the 2008 Lincoln MKX immediately increased its speed and refused to stop.

Suspect of high-speed chase dies after crashing into telephone pole

PHIPPSBURG, Maine — The suspect of a high-speed chase in Phippsburg is dead after crashing into a telephone pole Saturday night. Just after 10 p.m., dispatchers at the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office got a 911 call from the area near Meadowbrook and Basin Roads. The dispatchers said they could hear voices and engines revving, but received no response from the caller.

ELLSWORTH — Maine State Police Sgt. Dan Ryan and Trooper Kim Sawyer responded to a plane crash with minor injury on the Pocomoonshine Lake in Princeton Sept. 7. Joseph Wallace, 51, of Alexander was operating a Challenger Ultra-Light when he landed on the water and forgot to put the wheels up, police said. Wallace suffered a bloody nose.
