Loftus’ overtime goal gives Watertown the Div. 3 state field hockey title

HANOVER — Time and time again, Watertown had a slew of penalty corners only to come up empty. Finally, the Raiders cashed in on one. Elizabeth Loftus took a pass from Molly Driscoll and whistled home a shot low to the goalie’s right side to give No. 2 Watertown (23-0) a 1-0 double-overtime victory over top-seeded Sandwich in the Div. 3 state field hockey championship. The title was the 19th in the storied history of Watertown field hockey.

Waccamaw girls cross country wins 3rd state title in last 7 years

COLUMBIA – Waccamaw High School's girls cross country team has now reached the top of the mountain three times in the last seven years. The team won the Class AAA state championship at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia on Nov. 11 with a 20:49 average time for 67 points in the 5,000-meter run. The Warriors can now add 2021 to its list of state titles, which also includes 2015 and 2017.
