The Commencal TEMPO 125mm Trail Bike Intro’d by Hugo Frixtalon

Support us! BikeRumor may earn a small commission from affiliate links in this article. Commencal has released the TEMPO, a short-travel trail bike said to be a “playful powerhouse”. Its 125mm of rear wheel travel is delivered via a VPP linkage wherein the front triangle is connected to a one-piece swingarm via two short links that co-rotate in a clockwise fashion while the uppermost one drives the shock. It rolls on a 29″ wheelset and sports a 140mm travel fork. We have the need-to-knows right here, but first, allow Professional World Cup Downhill Racer, Hugo Frixtalon, to change your perception of what a 125mm trail bike is capable of.

Video: A Love Letter to Autumn in 'August Falls'

Last winter, I went through a pretty serious bike withdrawal. There's something to be said about not being able to do the thing you want to do that just makes you really want to do the thing. This also happens to be the state of mind where I'm the most inspired and creative. So, I started thinking about all the videos I wanted to make over the next year. No matter what I did, I kept coming back to a really straightforward concept: two friends, ripping a trail at sunset, filmed predominantly with a cable cam, set to a throwback tune that would get people stoked to ride their bikes.

Making the Slopes Fun from Day 1

Few activities look as enticing as skiing — think of those images of devotees effortlessly tracing elegant arcs on the snow or gliding through fairy-tale powder — it’s part sport, part tourism brochure. But let’s face it: Skiing is not kind to beginners, especially adult ones.

The Teardrop Cast

The Teardrop cast is a soft presentation fly cast that’s handy for targeting spooky fish. I learned this cast from a guide in the Bahamas. It was a day I’ll never forget. It was a dark, cloudy day but there was no wind. We spent all morning stalking tailing bonefish in shallow water. The fish were feeding eagerly, but they were really spooky. I was getting a lot of shots but not feeding a lot of fish. When my guide, Ellie Rahming, showed me this cast, I went from zero to hero.

Not-so-cold cold fronts keeping the fish out of all the right places

Weekly cold fronts have been rolling into South Florida. Unfortunately, these slow moving fronts have had little cold air in them but plenty of wind. We rely on cold fronts to be cold in late November and December to move our fish into areas where they should be. Spanish mackerel, bluefish, kingfish, gag, red, and black groupers like the cold weather and tend to move into the shallower waters in large numbers when it gets cold. However, with water temperatures still around 80 degrees, these fish are either nowhere to be found or still in deeper waters.

"Got Any Room For Me?!" Baby Seal Jumps Into a Tandem Kayak

Most people expect to see wildlife while they are kayaking. If you are in the ocean you see even more. Sometimes kayaker's come across sharks, especially when fishing like this ocean kayaker, or they will cross paths with dolphins and whales. One kayaker came face to face with a friendly baby seal, while paddling around Cap-aux-Os, Gaspé, Québec. The area is known for seals, so seeing one is not unheard of. However, a seal jumping into the kayak was certainly unusual.

Give the gift of time together outdoors this Christmas

Now that December has arrived, we’ve reached crunch time for making sure we have Christmas gifts for all the important people in our lives. I hear the stress in voices of friends and family as they try to figure out what to give that hard-to-buy-for person. It shouldn’t be so hard. Especially if your hard-to-buy-for guy or gal loves the outdoors.
