WASHINGTON , July 17 -- The Congressional Research Service. , entitled "Recent Changes in the Estate and Gift Tax Provisions" by economic policy senior specialist. The American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA; P.L. 112-240) established permanent rules for the estate and gift tax for 2013 going forward. The tax revision of 2017 (P.L. 115-97) doubled the exemption levels. This increase expires after 2025.
