MISSOULA — Class AA high school basketball in Missoula has plenty of fresh faces in the coaching ranks this winter. Marian University announced today that Head Football Coach Mark Henninger has been promoted to assistant director of Athletics, effective Dec. 5. Henninger joined Marian University as head football coach in 2013, and since then, Marian’s football program has achieved an impressive 92-23 record. In 2014, the Knights were NAIA National Runner Up, and Henninger was named American Football Coaches’ Association (AFCA) NAIA National Coach of the Year. In 2015, the Knights won the NAIA National Championship, and Henninger was again named AFCA NAIA National Coach of the Year. From 2014-2021, the Knights have also been NAIA National Runner Up twice and Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast Champions five times.
Florida State got good news on Thursday afternoon when redshirt junior linebacker Tatum Bethune shared the news that he will return for another season in Tallahassee. Bethune, who transferred into FSU from UCF prior to the 2022 season, helped to flip the linebacker room for the Seminoles and turn it into a strength during this season.

WATERFORD — The Walled Lake Northern Knights defeated South Lyon Unified 5-2 Wednesday night in a Lakes Valley Conference match-up. The Knights came out hot, outshooting South Lyon Unified 12-1 in the first period. But Northern only scored once, a spinning shorthanded shot from Patrick Fishback that found the back of the net with 4:27 remaining in the period.
