Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, and the UAE candidate for the presidency of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), is visiting the United States of America as part of a tour that also includes South America, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences with police authorities. During his visit to the United States, Major General Al Raisi met with Joey Hood, Acting Assistant Secretary of State, James Walsh, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gentry Smith, Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security, Bruce Swartz, Deputy Assistant Director General of the U.S. Department of Justice, and Greg Dakot, Director of the ICITAP Programme, Michael Hughes, Director of Interpol in the United States, Andrew Anderson, Acting Assistant Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and a number of officials from the US police and Interpol. The meetings dealt with enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries, a number of issues of common interest related to strengthening bilateral relations in the security and police fields, and ways to enhance international cooperation in the field of law enforcement, as well as discussing lessons learned from the bilateral partnership of the two countries and the processes that help direct the efforts of the two countries. Interpol in the fight against terrorism and international crimes and joint efforts to maintain security and promote peace in the Middle East and the world. Major General Al Raisi also visited the US Department of Homeland Security, and met with Acting Undersecretary, Kelly Ann Borissi, and Deputy Professional Undersecretary for the Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans. The Office of the Special Representative of INTERPOL to the United Nations, and Gilles Michaud, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Safety and Security, during the meetings, they discussed ways to enhance joint international action, enhance the role of INTERPOL and activate its global role. During the visit, Major General Al-Raisi and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the New York Operations Room and its facilities, in addition to the police facilities and exhibitions that are currently being held in a number of the United States, and the NLEOMF Museum of Law Enforcement Support to learn about its latest use by police teams in order to enhance security and stability. Major General Al Raisi will complete his tour with his visit to South America, during which he will meet with a number of officials in this field, to complement the efforts to support the UAE file for the presidency of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
