Sunday Supper for September 19

Ana Egge is a songwriter's songwriter, admired by the likes of Lucinda Williams and Ron Sexsmith. Her new album, Between Us, while sonically edgier than some of her previous ones, concludes with the tender, heartfelt tribute to her nephew, "We Lay Roses." I premiered the video on my New Folk Initiative website and share the song on today's "Sunday Supper."

Instant Replay: 030

Over my week of vacation this summer, I found myself returning to some high school nostalgia in the form of binge-listening to Ben Folds's "Rockin' the Suburbs" album. I particularly found myself belting this song out while winding my way through the beautiful back roads of Berkshire County. Oddly enough, when looking up the album to learn more about it, I found out it was released on September 11, 2001.

The Indigo Girls headline Foxwoods Friday

Just projecting my own genetic realities in the context of time — to wit, my hair is now the color of Liquid Paper — I wonder if it would be accurate to re-brand the Indigo Girls as the Indi-gray Girls?. After all, the supremely gifted and archly spirited folk-rock duo...

Joe Biden did, shockingly, become the first Democratic candidate to win Georgia in nearly 30 years, so Isbell got to work — and now the resulting album, Georgia Blue, is out next month, on October 15.
