Steam could launch for Chromebooks soon, mentions game compatibility reports

It won't be particularly helpful for a lot of the lower-end devices, but Chromebooks have been steadily getting bigger storage drives, with newer processors too that are much more capable. The new system that makes all this work is named Borealis, and it appears that as of November 29 it gained new "flags" regarding a Beta mode and a way to disabled "ChromeOS-specific integrations for the borealis client".

Minecraft set to be 30% faster on Linux with Mesa drivers

If you're using the open source Mesa drivers on Linux (mostly AMD/Intel) and you're a fan of Minecraft, the next Mesa release is going to give you a big performance uplift. Mesa has a feature that allows certain applications to use threaded OpenGL, which can give a pretty good performance improvement. This feature "mesa_glthread" is only used by default for approved applications listed in a configuration file, as it can (in certain cases) cause issues. The simple change done recently by AMD developer Marek Olšák simply turns this on for the official Minecraft launcher.

Steam Next Fest gave developers a '500%' increase in converting wishlists to sales

Compared with the events in 2020, there's been a huge jump in the amount of wishlists for developers. Wishlists are an essential marketing tool, since it's a way for developers to remind users their game has released or is on sale and hopefully convert them into actual sales. Valve notes that there's a few reasons why 2021 has done so much better, including a change to their rules that mean developers can only enter once per-game, so Valve thinks developers have taken a bit more time to be ready — makes sense.
