Harvest spooky fun Friday night

The Stagecoach Inn Museum hosts Harvest Night on Fri., Oct. 22 at 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park. The scary evening begins at 5 when gates open. Guests can play crafts and games, buy hot dogs or bring their own picnic before snuggling into their lawn chairs and blankets to watch “Casper the Friendly Ghost” cartoons.

With 40 years of playing Elvira under her beehive, Cassandra Peterson is showing no signs of slowing down. The character hasn’t changed much since her 1981 debut, but Peterson, who turned 70 in September, has a remarkable knack for adapting to changes in how we watch horror movies. She was a staple of cable television Halloween programming throughout the ’80s; this month, “Dr. Elvira” is the face of Netflix’s annual Netflix and Chills event.

Smaller Shows Will Go on at Ida-Damaged Louisiana Theater

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Shows will go on at a historic Louisiana theater despite damage from Hurricane Ida. The Columbia Theatre in Hammond is converting a conference center into a venue for entertainment while repairs and planned renovations are made. The Hammond Star reports that Ida caused significant damage to the theater.

Logansport Elks Halloween Parade returns this year

The annual Elks Halloween Parade will happen again this year after a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Television horror movie host and central Indiana icon Sammy Terry will again be leading the parade as it starts in front of the Logansport City Building.
