The governing body for the Highland games has added the prefix “royal” to its title after the name change was approved by the Queen, organisers said. The Scottish Highland Games Association is now to be known as the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association (RSHGA), in a move which “recognises a thousand years of tradition”, said chairman Iain Watt.

The Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletes (RMSA) brings a full-day competition to the Margaret Carpenter Park multi-purpose fields on July 24th. Starting at 9 am, athletes will rotate through nine events, wearing kilts that represent family tartans, countries, and organizations like firefighters or the U.S. Air Force. They will be joined by dancers and bagpipers throughout the day, in an inclusive cultural celebration.

The City of Beaumont’s First Annual Beaulympics Cajun Field Day Carnival will carry on Saturday, rain or shine, at a new location.
