Guitar Center Partners with Black Pumas

Black Pumas are the creative collision of Eric Burton and Adrian Quesada—a melding of their unique aesthetics to form a psychedelic soul sound. When they first started working together in Austin, Texas, their intention was for it to be simply a studio project. Quesada—a force on the Austin music scene and Grammy Award winner for Grupo Fantasma's “El Existential”—first teamed up with singer-songwriter Burton to record studio vocals in 2017. Burton, a transplant from L.A. moved to Austin for its lively and diverse music scene. The combination worked so well that it took little time for the partnership to go from the studio to the stage, achieving six Grammy nominations in a few short years. We met up with the duo at their studio homebase, Electric Deluxe Recorders, and talked gear and inspiration as they recorded a live version of their song “Confines.”
