Gonzaga vs. Pacific postponed

Gonzaga (13-2, 2-0) will not be playing the University of Pacific on Jan. 20 in an away contest after the Tigers team has had to enter protocols once again and postponed their activities. This is the fifth game and fourth West Coast Conference matchup that has been taken off of GU’s original 2021-22 schedule.

Too Much Timme: No. 2 Gonzaga shoots 69% to roll past BYU

PROVO — No, this wasn't the Pleasantville High boys' basketball team, but you can be excused for thinking it was. Playing the role of star forward Skip was Drew Timme, and Gonzaga simply could not miss Thursday night against BYU. Julian Strawther and Andrew Nembhard threw a couple of...

Gonzaga-Pacific becomes fifth game scratched from Bulldogs’ schedule

With a fifth game wiped from Gonzaga’s schedule, the country’s second-ranked team could be up against another long pause following Saturday’s game against Santa Clara. Due to COVID-19 protocols within Pacific’s program, Thursday’s game between the Bulldogs and Tigers in Stockton, California, will not be played as scheduled, GU announced Friday afternoon.

Gonzaga’s Mark Few Weighs In On Future Of BYU Series After Cougs Leave WCC

PROVO, Utah – Thursday night’s loss to Gonzaga was the penultimate visit to The Kennel for BYU basketball as a member of the West Coast Conference. In 2023, BYU will be a member of the Big 12 Conference, leaving behind a series with Gonzaga that has produced memorable moments between the two programs.

Gonzaga dismantles BYU 110-84

Dominance. Art. Swag. The swaggiest dude ever? A Few scoring in an official game. That’s what was on the menu at The Kennel on Thursday night as the Gonzaga Bulldogs dismantled the BYU Cougars 110-84. To be honest, the game wasn’t even that close. Nine different Zags scored...

No. 2 Gonzaga puts on clinic offensively, crushes BYU 110-84

Gonzaga has been a decent 3-point shooting team, but typically operates inside out. The Zags buried 10 3s, the 10th rewarding fans with free tacos, by late in the opening half. Second-ranked Gonzaga was in a 40-minute groove Thursday, from Andrew Nembhard’s step-back jumpers to Drew Timme’s silky post moves,...

Gonzaga basketball game against Pacific postponed due to COVID-19

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga men's basketball team is facing yet another postponed game. Gonzaga University announced Friday that its West Coast Conference game against Pacific University has been postponed. That game was scheduled for Jan. 20 in Stockton, Calif. In an email, Gonzaga said the postponement was due...

10 Observations from Gonzaga’s Big Win Over BYU

Playing BYU sure is fun, isn’t it? Gonzaga’s 26-point beatdown of the Cougars had no shortage of highlights and plenty to observe, so let’s get down to business. BYU came out with that 7-0 run to start the game, but the Zags responded well. They didn’t press, and I’m sure the energy from the home crowd helped them as they grabbed the lead back in short order.

Top 5 Gonzaga Basketball Moments of 2021

For reasons somewhat unknown to me, end of year lists pop up everywhere to close the book on the year that was. But with Gonzaga’s first two WCC games postponed due to COVID protocols within the program and its opponents, here we are. There hasn’t been much to write...

10 Observations from Gonzaga’s win over Pepperdine

After long last, Gonzaga basketball is back. And what an emphatic return, though I’m guessing that Pepperdine didn’t enjoy being at the receiving end of that shellacking. Gonzaga’s opening minute and fifty-one seconds might have been the best sub-two minute stretch that the Zags have ever put together against Pepperdine. An early 10-0 lead during that opening sequence ended the game before all the fans had even found their seats. That’s the best way to come out of a COVID-pause.

Omicron surge forces Gonzaga to cancel ‘Tent City’ ahead of BYU game

The tent community that springs up before most of Gonzaga’s marquee home basketball games is taking precautionary measures as COVID-19 continues to surge throughout the Spokane region. “Tent City,” the ticket distribution system that’s become a popular aspect of the game day experience for Gonzaga students, has been canceled...

In a battle of basketball-starved powers, No. 1 Gonzaga jumps all over No. 2 DeMatha

It took only a few minutes Tuesday night for the Gonzaga basketball team to prove it wouldn’t be slowed by DeMatha or anything else. In this increasingly hectic boys’ basketball season, Tuesday’s meeting of Washington Catholic Athletic Conference powers in Northwest Washington provided an evening that felt both foreign and familiar. In a battle of the top-ranked teams in the D.C. area, the No. 1 Eagles jumped all over the No. 2 Stags and led by double digits most of the way in an 87-73 victory.

Auburn, UCLA join Baylor and Gonzaga atop Katz's Tiers

With Baylor getting beaten at home by Texas Tech this week, the shakeup has begun. Following the Bears' 65-62 loss to the Red Raiders, it's time to tweak the tiers. Last week, we released our first edition of "Player of the Year Tiers," but when the No. 1 team in the nation loses its first game of the season, it's time to get back to looking at the top 16 teams.

3-on-3: Gonzaga’s ailments and Christmas basketball

Keith: Over the last two games, Gonzaga has shot 45.5% and 41.9% from the three-point line and that is with a high volume of threes taken. Is this just a mirage?. Tuck: Okay, so yes? But so were the numbers before? Perhaps like their quality of opponents being top 10 or bottom 100, Gonzaga either drills everything or misses everything. I don’t think their three-point shooting is necessarily a hinderance but in the ideal presentation of this offense we should be seeing 3-pointers as proof to defenders to guard the paint honestly.

Women’s basketball handles Gonzaga in rematch

In its second game back in Maples since new restrictions limited crowd attendance, No. 2 Stanford women’s basketball (11-3, 2-0 Pac-12) took down Gonzaga (10-4, 1-0 WCC) for the second time this season. Junior guard Hannah Jump posted a team-high 21 points with five three-pointers en route to a 66-50 victory for the Cardinal.

College basketball Power Rankings: Gonzaga, Arizona, ACC and Wisconsin are this week's winners

The ACC's struggles during the first half of the 2021-22 men's college basketball season have been no secret. I've discussed it multiple times here in the Power Rankings, and the lack of a non-Duke team even competing for a spot in the top 16 has been evident. The hashtag #OneBidACC appeared briefly on Twitter timelines -- OK, maybe just mine, because I tweeted it in jest -- following North Carolina's loss to Notre Dame on Wednesday.
