New Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer teases return of lots of familiar faces

We finally have a new trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was delayed multiple times before landing on its current November release date. This sequel to the iconic Ghostbusters films from the 1980s introduces a new generation to the franchise. So it's fitting that the film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank You for Smoking), son of Ivan Reitman, director of the 1980s films and one of the producers on Afterlife.

‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Trailer Breakdown: Cameos, Gozer References, and More Explained

It’s been quite the journey for fans of the original Ghostbusters movies to arrive at a point where a proper sequel to the franchise would see the light of day. Truth be told, Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz in the films) had a script ready to go way back in 1999, just one year after Ghostbusters 2 hit theaters. Unfortunately, nearly 20 years of development hell followed, as well as the unfortunate death of Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler). But then, finally, in 2016 … a reboot of the first film was made. It seemed to the fans of old that all hope was lost. The return of the original Ghostbusters team, or at least the universe in which they existed, had been left behind.

The new Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer will convince you to see this movie

There’s a new trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife that gives away more of the setting and plot than anything we’ve seen to date — and boy, does it look good. After a year of really weird Americana trailers more reminiscent of Man of Steel than Ghostbusters, it's nice to see what this movie will actually be about. While early trailers were full of epic music and wide vistas and whispers, this trailer actually has some ghosts! And Annie Potts! And the voice of Dan Aykroyd! This is the first trailer that actually makes the movie feel like a sequel rather than a weird and mopey kid-focused reboot.

5 Reasons Why Ghostbusters 2 Is Much Better Than You Remember It

Okay, confession time. I actually like Ghostbusters 2 better than Ghostbusters. I know. What am I smoking, right? Hardly anybody likes Ghostbusters 2. Not even Bill Murray! But, Ghostbusters 2 was my very first Ghostbusters movie, so it holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first movie where I was actually introduced to Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, and Harold Ramis, so it definitely has that nostalgia factor for me.

Ghostbusters Easter Egg Spotted In Loki Episode 5

This week's episode of Loki was chock full of cool Easter Eggs, including a look at Mjolnir and even Throgg (my personal fave), but those Easter Eggs weren't just from the Marvel side of things. There also happened to be a fun Easter Egg from another beloved franchise, and that would be Ghostbusters. The Easter Egg comes in the form of a Hi-C Ecto Cooler, and while it is a very quick cameo, the fact that it's in there at all deserves some praise, and you've also gotta love that Kid Loki is the one who has it. You can check out the moment for yourself in the image below.

1959 Cadillac Ghostbusters ECTO-1 Fetches $220k: Video

One of the most iconic of all movie cars is the Cadillac Miller Meteor Futura Duplex hearse that was converted into the Ghostbusters Ectomobile or ECTO-1. For a many, it is instantly recognizable as the transportation for the much loved cast of the Ghostbusters movie franchise. Locating a 1959 vintage ambulance or hearse converted Caddy that is still usable for a Ghostbusters ECTO-1 replica is difficult, if not impossible. If you do, the price of entry is just the beginning. You’re better off finding a well-built replica.
