Canes fall flat in New Jersey, LaFontaine struggles in first NHL start

You can’t expect to win a hockey game when you give up seven goals. The Carolina Hurricanes discovered this harsh truth on Saturday, Jan. 22 when they got smacked by the New Jersey Devils in a 7-4 defeat in Newark, New Jersey. Goaltender Jack LaFontaine was not stellar by any means, but a poor effort by the skaters in front of him ensured that he was not wholly to blame for the loss.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled center Kyle Criscuolo and defenseman Luke Witkowski to their taxi squad from the Grand Rapids Griffins. Houser, Sabres defeat Senators for second win in past 10 games

OTTAWA -- Michael Houser made 43 saves in his season debut for the Buffalo Sabres, a 3-1 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Tuesday. "It's fun to see the boys so happy, not only for me but for a win," Houser said. "I think we've been playing pretty well, at least since I've been here. I've watched quite a bit of the games from Rochester (of the American Hockey League), and the team is playing so much better than last year and the beginning of this year too. You can see the team getting better. To be a part of it and to get a win for the boys, it feels really good."
