Randolph choses projects to be funded via federal grants

RANDOLPH TWP. —The council introduced several ordinances allocating funds received from the American Rescue Plan during the Tuesday, Sept. 14 Township Council meeting. The first ordinance introduced allocates $75,000 for improvements to the stormwater outfall system. The second ordinance allocates $500,000 to paint the township’s water tank. The third ordinance allocates $150,000 to retrofit and improve the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems in township facilities.

US Congressman Harold (Hal) Rogers (5th Congressional District) was at the Paintsville Lake in Johnson County on Wednesday (9-16-2021) at the Mountain HomePlace for the Paintsville/Johnson Co Flood Mitigation Kickoff Meeting. Along with Congressman Rogers was Johnson Co Judge Executive Mark McKenzie, Paintsville City Mayor Bill Mike Runyon and District Commander at US Army Corps of Engineers Eric Crispino. All where present for the ceremonial signing of the agreement for Federal Funding for the Paintsville/Johnson Co Flood Mitigation project. Congressman Rogers secured the funding in 2018, allowing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to study and implement a flood mitigation project to protect the people of Johnson County. The project includes a proposed flood wall and relocation of homes and businesses in the flood plain.

Federal money to fill hospital jobs

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is taking steps to address staffing challenges at Wyoming healthcare facilities amidst a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The Governor is deploying Federal funding to provide staffing relief and support for current healthcare staff and to secure traveling medical staff. Gordon has allocated $20 million to be utilized by facilities on a discretionary basis to stabilize staffing levels.
