NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The White House says it wants to be ready operationally if approval is granted soon for a COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages 5 to 11. The White House’s COVID-19 Response Team discussed the Biden administration’s plan to vaccinate just shy of 30 million children as quickly as possible if the FDA and CDC greenlight the shots for kids in that age group in coming days. The White House says it wants to be ready to roll out the shots that would be a smaller dose of the Pfizer vaccine which is already being used for kids 12 and up and by adults.

James Dwight Holt, 74, of San Tan Valley, Arizona formally from Bucyrus, passed away on September 30, 2021. Jim was born in Bucyrus on March 25, 1947, to Donald C. Holt and Eileen Shock Holt. He was raised in Ridgeton, Ohio, and attended Holmes Liberty School graduating from Wynford High School with the class of 1965. Jim married Kathryn Sue Carr on June 4, 1966, having celebrated 55 years of marriage. She survives in San Tan Valley.

Kogi State Police Command says it has arrested and detained four officers who were filmed collecting bribe and assaulting commuters. Former FDC convener Chen Haohuan, former Democratic Party chairman Hu Zhiwei and Liang Guoxiong, etc., were accused of inciting the public to participate in the procession after the police opposed the 7.1 parade application last year, but they were still writing a call outside the Court of Final Appeal to appeal to the public to organize and participate. There were 3 crimes of unapproved assembly. Seven of the defendants pleaded guilty earlier. Chen Haohuan pleaded with him and said that he only wanted to express his demands in a peaceful, rational and non-violent manner. The lawyer also pointed out that the scale of the assembly that day was small and there was no advocacy of violence.

Design Matters: FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS Grant

California design icon NICOLEHOLLIS and the Female Design Council have joined forces to create more opportunity and support for female-identified BIPOC designers and architects in the industry with the launch of the FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS grant. The $15,000 grant will be awarded to a WOC-led interior design/architecture firm or individual in the United States so that the winner can expand their company size and/or produce new design collections and receive professional mentorship from the NICHOLEHOLLIS team. This follows FDC’s successful Grant 01 program—launched in 2020—that awarded furniture designer Luam Melake and designer and leather artisan Mia Wright-Ross as the winners.
