Ely Radio Stations Will Remain On-Air After New Owners Secured

(FOX 9) – Months after a beloved radio station in Ely, Minnesota, faced its imminent shutdown, the airwaves will remain loud after a new owner has been found. Radio stations 1450 WELY and 94.5 WELY-FM Ely MN – known for its “End of the Road Radio” tagline – announced in May the sister stations would go silent after the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa, which has owned the stations since 2005, announced it failed to secure new owners for the outlets.

South Dakota bans TikTok from government-owned devices

Kristi Noem, the governor of South Dakota, has signed an executive order prohibiting government employees, agencies and contractors from downloading and using TikTok on state-owned devices. In her office's announcement, Noem said she issued the order due to growing security concerns that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been using the social media app to gather information from American users and leveraging it to manipulate them. The order is already in effect and also prohibits government personnel from visiting the TikTok website on browsers.

Ely radio station sold to new owner based in Wisconsin

It’s the end of an era for local radio in Ely. On Thursday, Dec. 1, WELY will go silent. A new owner, Zoe Communications, Inc., will take over the station, according to a news release. It is not certain when the radio station will go back on the air.
