Fawn Fire grows to 60 acres near Mountain Gate

MOUNTAIN GATE, Calif. — UPDATE 10:00 P.M.:. Cal Fire now reports that the Fawn Fire has reached 60 acres with no containment as activity continues into the night. Public Information Officer Cheryl Buliavac reports that the fire reached the ridge when night came which did help crews slightly with the fire fight.

Map: Fawn Fire evacuations near Lake Shasta

Update: Click here for the latest report on the Fawn Fire. Evacuations have been ordered because of a wildfire along Interstate 5 just south of Lake Shasta. The Fawn Fire started late Wednesday afternoon in steep terrain near a limestone quarry. The California Department of Fire and Forestry Protection said a 30-year-old Palo Alto woman who was found in the vicinity has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately igniting it.

AUBURN (CBS13) — A person who was smoking has been arrested on suspicion of starting a fire in Newcastle that crews had to rush in and stop before it could get any bigger.
