Fair weather helps push attendance up at 2021 Allegany County Fair

ANGELICA – There is nothing more traditional at the Allegany County Fair than at least one or two days of rain, but not this year. After weeks of rain and sometimes hail for most of July, this past week turned out to be a fair-weather week for the fair, with only a few sprinkles one night according to the President of the Allegany County Agricultural Society, Karen Tripp, which oversees the annual Allegany County Fair.

Weather Alert Day: Dangerous heat expected Tuesday and Wednesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Dangerous heat is expected across much of the state over the next several days as a dome of high pressure aloft will strengthen over the area which will send actual air temperatures into the mid and upper 90s and lower 100s. Those temperatures are numbers we’ve already seen this year, but combined with dew points ranging from the mid 60s to the mid 70s, heat index values will be extremely high Tuesday, Wednesday, and even into Thursday afternoon across much of the state as they could reach between 100° and 110° at times. Heat Advisories are in place across much of the state beginning at 12 PM on Tuesday and lasting for several days. For Lincoln and southeastern Nebraska, it is in place from 12 PM Tuesday to 9 PM Thursday with the Heat Advisory ending at 9 PM Wednesday for northeastern Nebraska and across central and western Nebraska as well.

Still, we worried that Elsa, indirectly, had the potential to cause a particularly awful casualty.

Smoke and a few storms headline the weather this week

Monday and most of Tuesday will get the week off to a quiet yet smokey start as more wildfire smoke from Canada drifts into the region. The intensity of the smoke plume will vary from time to time and place to place but should be noticeable in the sky and at the surface much of the time. Hazy skies are likely, and air quality will be slightly reduced.
