New Battlefield Games Teased by EA

A number of new games in the Battlefield franchise have been teased by Electronic Arts. In the wake of Battlefield 2042 launching last month, EA and developer DICE have made clear they are committed to the latest installment in the multiplayer shooter series for the long haul and will continue to update it over time. Despite this commitment, though, EA has now revealed that it is planning the larger "Battlefield Universe", which will see the franchise receiving new games in the future.

GRID Legends Gameplay and Release Date

Codemasters and Electronic Arts today confirmed February 25, 2022 as the global launch day for GRID Legends. GTA parent company Take-Two reportedly went after It Takes Two's trademark

It Takes Two was well received when it came out earlier this year, but Grand Theft Auto parent company Take-Two wasn't so happy about its name. A new report from Eurogamer reveals that Hazelight, the studio which developed It Takes Two with publishing support from Electronic Arts, abandoned its trademark application for the name of the game after receiving a trademark claim from Take-Two Interactive Software. Hazelight told Eurogamer that it was an ongoing dispute and the studio is "hopeful it will be resolved," though it couldn't reveal any further details.

Battlefield 2042 Review: Bigger Isn't Better

Battlefield 2042 has brought me to my breaking point with troublesome live-service multiplayer releases. Over the past few years, there have been a plethora of multiplayer titles that seem to launch in a rough state with the promise of getting better over time. While some of those games have indeed become much improved in due time, this trend as a whole is one that I'm growing sick of. Battlefield 2042, the latest entry in the long-running shooter franchise, clearly wasn't ready to launch at the end of 2021 but publisher Electronic Arts felt for one reason or another that it needed to hit store shelves right at this moment. As such, the game's current quality absolutely leaves something to be desired. But even beyond these promises to improve, it's the core of Battlefield 2042 that is fundamentally just not good.
