Neighbor Karen Blessen’s 29 Pieces wants artwork to repair social divides

29 Pieces, a nonprofit founded by East Dallas neighbor Karen Blessen, is asking for artwork. The group wants people from every state in the U.S. to participate in The American LOVE Project. This is a response to divisions in the country, manifested by the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. Its goal is to inspire hope and love within participants, which are seen as necessary in mending division.

Man jailed on murder charge after fatal shooting at strip mall in Far East Dallas

A 35-year-old man has been arrested three days after a fatal shooting at a Far East Dallas strip mall. Emanuel Garcia was taken into custody Thursday in Nolan County, about 200 miles west of Dallas, and is awaiting transport to Dallas County. He faces a murder charge, and it is unclear whether he has an attorney.
