As we approach the winter solstice holidays, much of humanity, while recognizing the trauma of a world at perpetual war with itself, puts in a solid vote for carrying on – and not only carrying on, but celebrating. Spring and rebirth, after all, are on their way. Fill the table for a feast. Sing songs. Give gifts. Forgive and reconnect. Laugh and reminisce. Watch a holiday romcom. Embrace the truths behind the myths. Bring on the jolly old elf and his flying machine. Imagine a better world.

Pregame Openthread: Championship Saturday

Championship Saturday is here and by the time the day ends we’ll more likely than not know the 2022 College Football Playoff field, barring any more upsets. Could chaos be on the horizon? Maybe! If you weren’t watching last night Utah took a tire iron to USC, beating the Trojans 47-24 and knocked the Trojans out of the playoff. Ohio State figures to backdoor their way into the playoff now even though they’ll be home watching the Big 10 Championship Game just like you and me.

Living with Children: Daughter needs to sleep in her own bed regardless of drama

Q: Several months ago, my husband and I allowed our 5-year-old daughter to sleep with us for a couple of nights. We thought this was innocent, but she began crying hysterically when we tried to move her back to her own bed. We compromised by letting her keep her iPad with her until she fell asleep but quickly realized that her device keeps her awake well past OUR bedtime. If we try to make her turn it off, she becomes highly agitated and it’s just not worth it. How can we get her back in her own bed without dramatics?

You can only pick one: Song Joong-ki drama

You can only pick one, and boy the pressure is on. The DB team will answer a new prompt in each post, and you’re invited to do the same in the comments. Ready to play?. missvictrix: Oh, I’m definitely picking Nice Guy. This show is just K-drama revenge melo at its best — from the Very Melodramatic OST, to the ups and downs of the plot, to the pining, the fury, and the many reversals. For some reason the first image of this drama that pops up in my head is always Song Joong-ki when he’s all beaten up with a huuuuge swollen eye standing in the rain being a not-so-nice guy. That’s basically the drama in a nutshell. (Do they make them like this anymore? I don’t think so.)
