DPS: 1 of Texas' 10 most wanted offenders arrested in Waco

WACO, Texas — One of Texas' 10 most wanted offenders was arrested in Waco earlier this month, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Hunter is described to be a "high-risk sex offender" by authorities. In 1997, he was convicted on two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact involving a 7-year-old girl, DPS said. He was given two 15-year sentences for this crime, but was released in 2012.

Lightning hits DPS SUV full of detectives while on freeway near Phoenix

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Scary moments for a few Arizona Department of Public Safety detectives during the weekend, thanks to Mother Nature. While they were driving on Interstate 10 toward Phoenix, lightning struck their SUV. The on-duty detectives said they felt a shock and experienced tingling sensations, but none of them were seriously hurt, DPS said.

Parents, school principal say DPS busing is ‘chaotic’; District says they are working on a plan

DAYTON — Dayton Public Schools said they have a plan to solve the major busing problems that charter schools across the area have complained about. Many of the Dayton charter schools are actually in the second week of classes, but administrators say they are having problems with DPS buses getting their students to school and getting them in classes in time.

Denver Public Schools, which will launch the 2022-2023 academic year on Monday, August 22, faces many challenges, including approximately 150 open teaching positions and hundreds of other job vacancies. Lanes closed on 285, DPS investigating four-vehicle crash

REEVES COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Texas Department of Transportation said the lanes of US 285, about 10 miles south of Orla are closed as crews remain on the scene of a four-vehicle crash. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route. The cause of the four-vehicle crash is still under investigation.

Accomack Board approves DPS raises

After a rather contentious discussion, the Accomack County Board of Supervisors approved a raise in pay for DPS employees. After a presentation by County Administrator Mike Mason that covered the entire county employment picture, Supervisor Hart stated that the Board should consider the raises for DPS now and address the rest of the county situation during the work sessions for the FY 23 budget in January.
