Herding dogs are hard-working, intelligent canines

ALBANY — One of the most popular shows on television these days is Kevin Costner’s modern-day cowboy saga, “Yellowstone.” I watched the first three seasons and will probably watch season four when it comes out from behind its “paywall.” But not everyone is a fan. My wife, for example, watched about 20 minutes of the first episode before she gave up on it with the declaration, “There is not one character on this show that I admire.” She was right, of course. But I’ll probably keep watching anyway — even though it is not a program that would garner much approval from my Sunday school class.

These became two separate breeds, the Akita Inu and the American Akita. The Akita Inu kept the traits of the earlier breed, while the American Akita adopted some characteristics of other breeds with which they were crossed. Although both types of Akita are very similar, there are some differences that allow us to distinguish them more easily.

Why pit bulls do not deserve their bad reputation

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Pit bulls have a reputation for being vicious, dangerous dogs. Pit bulls tend to get a bad rap because of sweeping generalizations that ignore two vital factors -- the dog's training and the dog's owner. Any dog can be trained to be aggressive. The opposite is true, as well.
