(((O))) Review: Wreche – All My Dreams Came True

Just what on earth is black metal? Nowadays it’s a packed playground for creativity and musical mischief and each new artist gets their own blank canvas to splash their vision onto. The fact that it is so incredibly diverse is one of the selling points of black metal and why its palette can hold many hues.

CONCERT REVIEW: Cradle of Filth: Live at Irving Plaza

Cradle of Filth is known for their melodic tales of gothic horror, striking fear into the hearts of their gleefully morose fan base. However, when faced with truly unfortunate circumstances, the band showed their ability to power through the darkness and give the fans the performance they so desperately craved.

What does horror taste like? 'Carnage asada' and bloody cocktails

There are many ways restaurant decor can say welcome: fresh flowers, linen tablecloths, soft lighting. At Terror Tacos in St. Louis, the welcome is rendered in blood — actually, lurid red paint that covers one wall in long drips, like the macabre drapery that Satan’s gnarled hand might pull back to usher the damned into hell.

ALBUM REVIEW: Existence Is Futile – Cradle Of Filth

CRADLE OF FILTH have been an extreme metal institution for three decades now; from their simpler black metal beginnings through to their current incarnation as one of the UK’s most famous metal exports, blending all things gothic and macabre with an ear for the symphonic and blasphemous. With their thirteenth (unlucky for some) album Existence Is Futile, the question is whether they can sustain the creative renaissance they’ve been undergoing arguably since 2015’s Hammer Of The Witches, or if, much like its title, this album’s existence is futile.

This week’s new heavy metal releases include a complete band swap, the return of "slamming gore groove," war metal, and more! To the metals…. If you're looking for death metal with the sweet smell of trench foot then the new 1914 should be your jam. This outfit is World War 1 themed and while the stories told in the songs mostly focus on those that survived, this thing is still quite dark, you know like war is. Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost/Bloodbath appears on a track which is pretty neat. Max's full rundown is here.
