Computers, DVDs seized from Broome County judge’s home in investigation of son

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (WHCU) — The son of US District Judge Thomas McAvoy is accused of secretly filming women in sex acts. Earlier this month, a grand jury in Manhattan indicted 49-year-old Daniel McAvoy on 29 counts of illegal surveillance. As part of the investigation, authorities seized computers, hard drives, and a container of over 150 DVDs from the judge’s home in the Broome County town of Kirkwood.

‘What’s gonna happen when we need them?’: Broward town will have no cops starting next month

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Come Oct. 1, there will be no police officers on duty in one Broward County town. That’s because the town of Pembroke Park’s contract with the Broward Sheriff’s Office expires at the end of the month and its long-delayed startup police department isn’t supposed to be ready to launch in February—and the town hasn’t negotiated a backup deal.

Perry Fareway Donated Bottled Water to Minburn During Boil Order

This past week when a Dallas County town was without clean water for a few days, a business in another town in the county stepped up to help out. The City of Minburn was under a boil order after a water main break happened this past weekend. As Xenia Rural Water District crews were repairing the break, Perry Fareway donated over 2,000 bottles of water to the residents of Minburn, which they were able to pick up at city hall and the public library in Minburn.

Portage County Sheriff's Office investigating body found in cornfield in town of Belmont

BELMONT – The Portage County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found Wednesday afternoon in a corn field. At 3:06 p.m. Wednesday, a farm worker reported finding a dead person in a field about 30 miles southeast of Stevens Point, in the Portage County town of Belmont near 15th and Lein roads, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
