Update: Several Fires in Jenny Lind Area, Evacuation Underway

Update at 7:15 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that the forward rate of spread has been stopped on the Robie Incident burning in the Jenny Lind area of Calaveras County along Milton Road. The fire is estimated at 200 acres in size and crews will work towards full containment and be mopping up into the night. All aircraft have been called off the scene.

Six orphaned kittens rescued from storm drain in New York

July 30 (UPI) -- Police in New York said members of the community helped rescue six kittens heard crying from inside a storm drain. The Plattsburgh Police Department said officers were called to an intersection at which a resident heard kittens crying from inside a storm drain near where an adult cat, suspected to be the mother, was found dead on the road.

Bail Set at $100,000 for Centralia Woman Who Allegedly Set House on Fire

A woman is being held on $100,000 bail after she allegedly set her own house on fire in Centralia Thursday afternoon. The Riverside Fire Authority responded to the fully-involved structure fire on East Third Street at about 12:30 p.m. on July 29 alongside an officer with the Centralia Police Department. A witness told the officer “a lady who started the fire was running up the street,” according to court documents.
