River Fire Near Colfax Grows To 100 Acres As It Forces Residents To Evacuate

The fire, now dubbed the River Fire, which is impacting portions of Placer and Nevada counties has burned 100 acres so far, according to Cal Fire. Containment was still at zero percent. The Nevada County Office of Emergency Services announced Wednesday afternoon that the county fairgrounds on McCourtney Road in Grass Valley is accepting animals from residents who are being forced to evacuate.

Durham, NC – Duplex Fire at 100 Colfax St Injures Two

Durham, NC (August 4, 2021) – On Wednesday morning, August 4, a serious house fire happened in Durham that injured at least two victims. One man and one dog were rescued from a major duplex fire in Durham, fire officials said. Durham Fire Department crews responded to the incident, which occurred in the 100 block of Colfax Street at 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a one-story duplex with flames bursting from the front left corner of the house. Nearly 40 firefighters responded to the call and officials said that other teams searched the home. A man and a dog were found inside the home and rescued by firefighters, according to fire officials.

Big Rig Crash Causes Major Backups On I-80 In Colfax

COLFAX (CBS13) – A big rig crash has caused major delays along I-80 in Colfax on Sunday. According to Caltrans, the crash happened along westbound I-80 near Placer Hills Road. Both lanes of westbound I-80 were blocked as a result of the crash. As of 5 p.m., cameras in the area still showed major backups. Passing traffic was being let through in the center median. What caused the crash is unknown at this time. There is no estimated time for the full reopening of the roadway. CBS13 will bring you more updates as they become available.

Quick-Acting Locals Help Stop Small Fire Near Grass Valley From Getting Bigger

The Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the Northern Foothills and high country through Thursday.

It is threatening Big Bar, Del Loma, Big Flat, and Burnt Ranch.

Firefighters honored for part in Colfax wildfire

CADILLAC — Those who fought to control a Wexford County wildfire in late May have been recognized for their work protecting its people and property. Michigan Department of Natural Resources firefighters and local fire departments are being honored with a special tribute "for outstanding service to the community" from the office of 102nd District Rep. Michele Hoitenga and the office of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for their work in putting out the Colfax Fire in late May. Local entities who assisted included volunteer fire departments from Buckley, Paradise, Fife Lake/Springfield, Whitewater, Colfax/Greenwood, City of Manton, Blair, Green Lake, Homestead, Cherry Grove, Selma, Haring, Cedar Creek, South Branch and Boon. The Michigan State Police, Wexford County Emergency Management and Grand Traverse County Emergency Management also assisted.
