Construction on Highway 20 cuts off customers from Claremore businesses

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Construction on Highway 20 in Claremore is cutting customers off from businesses with pavement ripped up and entrances blocked by dirt. "People just have a really hard time getting in here, especially if they're not locals," said Alec Murphy, a store manager at Nabatak Outdoors. "Some of the locals can get in here pretty easily, but if you're not from around here, it's pretty difficult."

Black Restaurant Week is back with a new grant program and a bigger reach

Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell and Derek Robinson want you to have a favorite Black-owned restaurant — just like you have a favorite spot for tacos or burgers or pasta. To help, they founded Black Restaurant Week, a national event spotlighting Black-owned restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and other culinary establishments where participants cook up special dishes, combos and prix fixe menus for one week of the year. The third Los Angeles iteration is scheduled for Aug. 6-15 and will feature new restaurants and food trucks, plus an expanded reach into more of Southern California — and a new grant program to help local business.
