CMSD Students Must Be Masked the First Five Weeks of School This Fall

All students and staff with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) will be required to wear masks for at least the first five weeks of the fall 2021 semester. CMSD CEO Eric Gordon sent out a video message to students and families detailing COVID-related policies for the new school year, which begins Aug. 23.

While the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Mississippi lags, many individuals and organizations are again taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. American Academy of Pediatrics recommends universal masks when school starts

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Thirty-five days until school starts and there are new recommendations for schools on face masks from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The AAP is recommending that when school starts universal masking should be the rule in every school. Meaning, all students over 2 years of age should wear face masks inside school buildings. It’s also recommended that all teachers and school staff wear masks, whether they are vaccinated or not.

CLEVELAND — When classes resume for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) next month, all students and staff will be required to wear masks. CMSD CEO Eric Gordon made the announcement in a social media video posting on Monday evening. For the first five weeks of the school year, students, staff, and guests will be required to wear masks, whether they are vaccinated for COVID-19 or not.
