MPD investigating theft of designer glasses

MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- Midland Police are asking for help from the community to identify three women accused of theft. According to a Facebook post, on July 21 three women stole more than $5,000 worth of Ray-Ban and Versace glasses from Vision Health Specialties. The trio left the store in a white Chrysler 200.

Carl Levin, Democratic Michigan senator who opposed Iraq war, dies at 87

Carl Levin, a Democrat who was the longest-serving US senator from Michigan and who prominently opposed the rush to war in Iraq, has died. He was 87. Levin had a slightly rumpled, down-to-earth demeanor throughout a 36-year career in which he was a staunch supporter of his hometown auto industry. The Harvard-educated attorney also was a respected leader of the Senate armed services committee.

But leasing is incredibly popular in the consumer market as well. Experian reports 26.66% of all new vehicles were leased in the first quarter of 2021—down from 30.68% in the first quarter of 2020, before the coronavirus hit the U.S. economy and workforce. There are regional differences as well. The northeast United States leads the nation with 46.29% of new vehicles being leased. In the southern U.S., that number is just 15.87%.

Michigan’s longest-serving U.S. Senator, Carl Levin, has died at the age of 87, his family announced late Thursday evening. For 36 years, Levin represented Michigan in the U.S. Senate, where he was well respected by Democrats and Republicans alike and was known as a tough investigator, a passionate advocate for progressive causes and a man of integrity. He was also Michigan’s first Jewish U.S. Senator.
