Dune (2021)

Alexander is a lifelong viewer of videos and media pertaining to the Stars Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and additional movie franchises. Dune, or Dune: Part One, is an exciting science fiction film that blessed us with our viewing pleasures in 2021. Frank Herbert's 1965 science fiction book Dune was the inspiration for the film. It's been some time since Dune has been on our television screens. The shows Frank Herbert's Dune and Frank Herbert's Children of Dune were given to audiences in the early 2000s. Before that, we had the film Dune from 1984. Watching one of the shows, I remember feeling that something more could have been produced. That something more seems to have been fulfilled in the latest manifestation of the series. Without giving spoilers, the newest Dune film has those elements that are often so coveted; action, religious atmospheres, politics, and, perhaps most important of all - incredible acting.

REVIEW: Comparing 'Dune' vs. 'Eternals,' with an eye on representation

Denis Villeneuve’s $165 million take on Frank Herbert’s “Dune” and Marvel’s $200 million “Eternals” went head-to-head at the box office, and the latter, which opened on Nov. 5, took top prize, earning, to date, about $118 million in U.S. and Canada; it has since grossed $280.7 million worldwide. “Dune” opened on Oct. 22, showing on HBO Max and in the cinema, and has earned $93 million in the U.S. and Canada; worldwide gross is $352.7 million. (Last I heard, “Eternals” didn’t open in China, because of the LGBTQIA angle, and they have a problem with director Chloe Zhao.)

Predictions Friday: Just Gimme Some Truth

Paul Thomas Anderson has been hit with some mild controversies over Licorice Pizza. Both of them stem from his telling the truth about what things were actually like back in the ’70s. Most of those who cover film aren’t old enough to remember the 70’s, but trust me when I tell you — this was a chaste version of what they were like. Maybe because Alana Haim looks about 17 and not 24 or 25, it isn’t quite as visually obvious that it’s a teenage boy and an older woman — but not only was that a common fantasy back then, it happened more frequently than you’d think.

Things In Dune We Bet You Didn’t Notice

Dune is surely one of the most widely read fiction novels of all time which is obviously not an overnight success. The heroes working at the back for this burned the midnight oil to make it a success. Full of salient illusions, Dune made it possible to the theaters with a twist in the plot. Every movie comes with that part wherein most scenes or aspects go unnoticed, or maybe sometimes they are only assumed because the existence is made for such a short part.

‘Walking Dead’ and ‘Dune’ Star’s Parents Found Dead in Bizarre Mystery

The parents of Alicia Witt were found dead Monday night in their Massachusetts home after the star hadn’t heard from the couple in several days. Robert Witt, 87, and his wife Diane, 75, were discovered when a relative checked in with the elderly couple at daughter Alicia’s request. “I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable,” Witt wrote in a statement. “I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss.”
