STCC offers free fall class for family child care providers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Technical Community College will offer a free class this summer for family child care providers. According to a news release sent to 22News, the course, Administration of Family Child Care, will begin on October 27. The class is open to family child care providers who serve children with state Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) child care vouchers.

Cowley College gets new cheer coach

Cowley College is excited to announce Brandon Burke as its new cheer coach. Burke is a proud graduate of Cowley College, holding a degree in Education with a concentration in Child Development. Coach Burke’s cheer experience started as a member of the Newkirk High School Cheer Team where the squad were OSSAA Region cheer champions, Spirit Fest champions, and he was an All-Region cheerleader. He continued his cheer career as a member of the Cowley College spirit squad. He competed at the UPA Americup Nationals before competing at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He was also an Advanced Cheer Crew All Star cheerleader and certified UCA Cheer Camp Instructor.

Status of child care facilities discussed at the Cass County Supervisors meeting

(Cass Co.) A discussion was held on the status of child care facilities in Cass County at the Board of Supervisors meeting this morning. Jack Bissell, City Councilman from Massena and member of the Childcare Board, said they are currently down to one full time child care provider and a part-time provider that takes care of children before and after school. He said they sent out a survey to community members and the results told them that there was enough interest in the town for a child care facility. Bissell said that’s when they started working with the local school board.

9,27,606 Severely Acute Malnourished Children Identified, Nearly 4 Lakh in UP: Govt

Over nine lakh severely acute malnourished children aged between six months and six years have been identified in the country, out of whom 3,98,359 are from Uttar Pradesh, the Women and Child Development Ministry said. In response to a question in Rajya Sabha, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said the ministry has released Rs 5,312.79 crore to states and union territories from 2017-18 to 2020-21, out of which Rs 2,985.56 crore has been utilised up to March 31, 2021.

Oxnard College is reopening its Child Development Center on Aug. 16 after undergoing renovations, expanding its hours and adopting a new curriculum. The Oxnard College “Little Condors” Child Development Center will serve preschoolers Monday through Friday, year-round, helping bridge a gap in Ventura County childcare services and providing much-needed support for family care needs.
