Engineers from UNSW have helped discover a cheap new way to capture and convert CO2 greenhouse emissions using liquid metal. The Humber Region is the UK’s largest industrial cluster by CO2 emissions, generating 12.4MT annually. The Humber Zero project aims to remove 8MT a year by 2030. To do this, Humber Zero will integrate carbon capture and storage technology to units at Phillips 66 Humber Refinery and VPI Immingham combined heat and power plant.
