County Board Approves Bus-Only Lane on Langston Blvd Through Rosslyn

The Arlington County Board took a step toward converting one lane of the newly renamed Langston Blvd into a bus- and HOV-only lane. On Saturday, the Board accepted and appropriated a $710,000 grant from the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission to pay for the transit project, which will run through parts of Rosslyn. Last year, Arlington County applied for funding from the Commuter Choice program, which helps pay for transit upgrades using toll revenue from I-66 inside the Beltway.

PBOT unveils new bus platform on SE Hawthorne and 6th

PORTLAND, Ore. — New transit platforms aim to keep traffic running smoothly on some of Portland's streets. Now in use on Southeast Hawthorne and 6th Avenue, the platform extends from the bus stop at the curb out to the bus lane, allowing TriMet buses to pick up passengers without having to pull into bike lanes during stops. A small ramp over the platform allows cyclists to keep moving through as well. Riders of Lines 2, 10, and 14 will be the first to use the new platform.

Bus is finally getting the respect it deserves

A FEW YEARS AGO I started dating someone who joked that if she ever asked me to marry her it would have to be on the 111 bus because I talked about it so much. She knew I worked for the MBTA, and it didn’t take long for her to realize it was buses that I loved.
