The game against the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots is certainly going to be decided on the field this Saturday night, but the major story on this Super Wild Card Weekend is what’s going to be happening around the field. After their Monday Night Football game in December was ravaged by high winds, extreme cold is in the forecast for Saturday night.

Highmark Stadium forecast: Cold conditions expected for Sunday's Bills game

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — There's nothing like football in Orchard Park during the month of January, and it will sure feel like it too. The forecast for both days this weekend will be impacted by the same weather system but are two completely different days. Saturday will be mild and rainy with temperatures near 50 degrees, and then Sunday is just the opposite: cold and snowy with temperatures near or below freezing.

Winter storm warning issued for Rochester region. Projected snowfall totals increased

A winter storm warning  has been issued for Monroe and surrounding counties for Sunday evening through Monday evening. "Get ready, a major snowstorm is coming," AccuWeather meteorologist Bernie Rayno warned.  The National Weather Service in Buffalo said total snow accumulations of 9 to 17 inches is possible, with winds gusts up to 40 mph. Winter Weather Advisory in effect for portions of Western New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. — From arctic air to lake effect snow, it's already an active start to the new week. A Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday. Lake effect snow showers could bring 5 to 10 inches of snow during the advisory, leading to potentially hazardous driving conditions. Anticipate snow covered and slippery road conditions plus reduced visibility from falling and/or blowing snow.

Winter Weather Advisories issued for Western New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. — After an unusually mild December with a meager amount of snow, we are expecting a bit of a different pattern to start the new year. A cold front has slowly made its way through Western New York, as of Saturday afternoon, and this opens the doors for the cold air to start flowing into the region.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Temperatures tumble into the teens on Friday as arctic air sinks across WNY throughout the day. Saturday will struggle to make it to double digits and then slips into the singles by game time with a light breeze pushing wind chills to -5F during the game in Orchard Park. Sunday returns to the 20s with some sunshine. Sunday night into Monday an east coast storm system will bring area wide snow to WNY. Be ready for travel to be impacted.
