BS '16 Hospitality and Tourism Management, Northern Illinois University. AAS '02 Hospitality and Tourism Management, Fox Valley Technical College. I lived in Erie, PA until I was 16 when my parents moved our family to Stevens Point, WI where I graduated high school. I consider myself a Wisconsinite! I worked in hotels for over 15 years, mostly in guest service. I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I earned my BS as a nontraditional student while my husband was earning his PHD at NIU (2017). We then moved to Arkansas in 2018 and we both worked at a university there. He was an English instructor and I worked in the University Foundation. We found ourselves moving back to the Midwest unexpectedly this fall when the university eliminated over 80 faculty positions (including my husband) among other drastic changes. He now teaches at Gogebic Community College and we live in Ironwood.

Negative self talk is not your inner voice. Its everyone else’s.

I hate how the positiviy gurus, fake therapists and counselors push that BS about your negative thoughts being your inner voice or use “we are our own worst critics” like parsley on Italian cuisine. It completely ignores the experience of an individual who heard these things from an outside source. Its hard to listen to somebody that was fed confidence (compliments and praise for their existence) tell you that you need to challenge this “inner voice” Its like Kim K telling people to work hard. submitted by /u/Chooseit225 [link] [comments]
