Housing crisis: Demolition begins on depression-era apartments in Boise

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — On Monday the Travis Apartment building in Boise was demolished, and some see its destruction as a continuing trend. Travis Apartments stood on the corner of 17th and Bannock for 83 years. Now, it's being replaced by more expensive housing. And that's concerning to folks who...

Boise’s new event requirements to slow the spread of COVID-19 are requiring changes and adjustments for the city’s two largest outdoor public markets. Both Capital City Public Market and the Boise Farmers Market will institute changes in order to comply with Mayor Lauren McLean’s new requirements for special events within the City of Boise that dropped last week after Idaho instituted crisis standards of care statewide.

Hey Boise, Did you Feel That Earthquake?

I lived in Alaska for about 4 years and earthquakes happen nearly daily in the state. Living in Anchorage we felt them often. In the time I lived there I experienced a few that were scary, big and long enough to wonder, is this it? Is this the start of the next big one? The biggest ones I experienced were enough to drop things off the walls and off shelves and even knock plates out of the cupboard and onto the floor, but no major damage. That being said there were many times where earthquakes were reported but I didn't feel a thing. It is much harder to detect them when you are in motion. Laying in bed awake however, you really feel them and become much more aware. So I ask again Boise, did you feel any shaking over the weekend?

Bevo’s Daily Roundup: The Big 12 is actually good and might look to stay that way without Texas, Oklahoma

For all the dreary weather talk about the Big 12 Conference in recent years – hell, let’s face it, there’s probably someone out there bad-mouthing the conference, and for good reason – the conference as a whole has actually looked good thus far, as our friends over at Frogs O’ War recently pointed out. Here’s how the Big 12 has shook out against other conferences so far this season: 1-0 versus ACC, 1-2 versus Big Ten, 2-0 versus Pac-12, 0-1 versus SEC (um, that one is on the Texas Longhorns), and 9-1 against the Group of Five conferences.

Boise State Football Off to Worst Start Since 2005

It's an image that has been imprinted into the memories of local sports fans, arguably, unlike any other. It takes place at the 50-yard line in Glendale, Arizona. There stands Chris Petersen, surrounded by his all-star players, raising up with both hands the crowned jewel of the Tostito's Fiesta Bowl trophy. In that moment, football fans across the nation were enamored with Boise State and the game that had just ended--and elevated Boise State to be THE Cinderalla program.

How good is BYU? Could the Cougars run the table?

BYU is off to a great start this fall. The Cougars, the only team in the country to open with three Power Five schools, are not only unbeaten but haven’t even trailed in a game this season. They have demonstrated a knack for big plays when it matters most, whether it was Tyler Allgeier punching the ball out of an opponent’s grasp on a game-changing play against Arizona State or making key fourth-down stops. For all of the above, the Cougars are ranked 15th in this week’s AP Top-25 poll.

Tramel's ScissorTales: Kansas State still No. 1 in Big 12 rankings, but OU up to No. 2

We’ve reached the back third of September and still know very little about Big 12 football. We assume the Sooners are the class of the league; the Sooners always are the class of the league. But OU has played two opponents outside of Western Carolina. Both Tulane and Nebraska could be described as mediocre. So-so Big Ten. So-so mid-major. OU beat the former by five and the latter by seven.

UCF Offensive Line Powers Rushing Attack

ORLANDO - Old school power football. It never completely dies. UCF would be one college football program keeping that ideological concept alive and from going to the grave. Even from the shotgun formation, UCF likes to be the hammer and watch its opponent be the rock. Many people may not know UCF’s rushing attack leans on the power football style of play without taking a closer look, and here’s the evidence to prove UCF’s philosophy about running the football.
