He died before he could be honored on Senior Night. But his soccer teammates still found a way.

She strode toward midfield on Senior Night, tears creeping into the corners of her eyes. But her son, her senior, was nowhere to be found. Instead, Hawa Fofana was escorted by three other seniors from the Columbia High boys soccer team who gently clutched her arms and steadied her gait. The parents and siblings and friends in the bleachers rose to their feet and cheered as she was presented with a flower bouquet and a soccer ball signed by every player on the team.

WSSU's Gaines Center getting an upgrade with new bleachers being installed

The bad news, or so it seems, is the Gaines Center might not be ready for games next month because of the construction taking place. New bleachers in junior high gym; COVID-19 still a concern

The final touches on a gym renovation project largely completed in September 2020 were made Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the form of new bleachers at Sweet Home Junior High School. The red retractable bleachers, which feature "Sweet Home" in black lettering, are just one more piece adding on to a fuller $11.8 million school renovation project completed in the fall of 2020, according to school district business manager Kevin Strong. That project included adding a regulation sized gym instead of a small auxiliary gym, adding a cafeteria/learning commons area, and remodeling the library/media center, along with many other improvements.

How linking up with Phoebe Bridgers allowed MUNA to finally be heard

MUNA’s album Saves The World dropped in September of 2019, but it became so central to my 2020 that its release felt oracular. I played it while walking around my neighborhood late at night; I played it in the yard, sipping White Claws with friends in an archipelago of 6-feet-apart kiddie pools; I played it sitting down in the shower at 1 p.m. on days when I couldn’t handle seeing anyone. Pop is the soundtrack to the apocalypse, and MUNA’s music does what great pop should do: It brings the heartbreak and the euphoria, the intimate lyric and the sweeping hook, the space to feel and the energy to release.

Don’t Miss Bleachers 10/26 At The Fillmore

The one and only Bleachers will be making a stop at The Fillmore on Tuesday, October 26th and you don’t want to miss it!. This tour is in support of Bleachers’ new album ‘Take The Sadness out of Saturday’ featuring the new hit song “Stop Making This Hurt”. Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff says, “’ Stop Making This Hurt’ is what you get when we are not allowed to go play for our people. it’s a line that had been ringing in my head for years. I fell into a dark place after a loss and then started to have that feeling of rage towards the depression – which is when you know there’s a way out. started looking at the people close to me in my life and finding all the ways we keep ourselves from breaking through. “Stop Making This Hurt” started ringing more and more in my head. then the pandemic hit and I got the band in a room and we played as we may never play again. at that point, it took on another meaning. found myself banging at the door of the next phase of my life and to open brings up all the darkness from the past and what’s holding you back. I could intellectualize it for days but what I’m truly left with is a voice in my head shouting “Stop Making This Hurt”.”
