Larry Simmons

Larry Simmons, a longtime resident of rural Leesburg, passed away quietly in the early hours of Monday, July 19, 2021, at Parkview Whitley Hospital. He was 81 years old. Born in Jalapa (Grant County) Oct. 31, 1939, he was the only son of Lawrence and Frances (Wolf) Simmons. He spent his formative years in Grant County and graduated from Sweetser School. Later, he became a police officer, working his way up to become Chief of the Jonesboro Police Department for several years before moving to Kosciusko County’s Lake Tippecanoe and starting a new career with Zimmer. Having dedicated more than 26 years of service, Larry retired from Zimmer in 1993.

Bethel Park’s Coverdale neighborhood celebrates 100th anniversary

A postal carrier called "Mailman George" once traversed the streets of a certain Bethel Park neighborhood. “He said that he’d never seen a better group of people than on his mail route in Coverdale,” lifelong neighborhood resident Robert McCormick recalled. “He also stated that the route took him longer than any other route, because he was always involved in long conversations and he was always being fed.”

City of White Plains to Launch Youth Food Truck Program

White Plains Mayor Tom Roach today announced the launch of an innovative new program called Project Thrive, a youth entrepreneurship food truck program. Thrive participants will learn all aspects of managing and running a food truck business, including designing the menu, preparing the food, and creating the marketing for the truck.

Shari Lynn Krisle

Shari Lynn Krisle, age 57 of Lyles, TN passed away Wednesday June 23, 2021. Born in California she was the daughter of the late Norma Ruth Rowan and Andy Rowan. Lynn had worked as a manager for several different restaurants. Lynn loved her family more than anything. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and taking care of her animals. She loved going to the beach and visiting lighthouses. She also had a passion for gardening and cooking. She will be dearly missed by her family.
