De Soto man seriously injured in accident on Highway 221

A De Soto man was seriously injured in an accident on Highway 221 in St. Francois County on Thursday afternoon, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol report. The report states at 3:42 p.m., a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by Joseph A. Darian, 39, of De Soto, was traveling too fast for road conditions on southbound Highway 221, west of Henrich Road. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, and struck a northbound 2016 Buick Encore driven by Jada N. Brooks, 19, of Des Arc. Brooks' vehicle traveled off the right edge of the road and overturned.

Frank H. Pecsi, 71, of Galesburg, died at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, following a short illness. He was born June 19, 1950, in Galesburg, the son of Frank and Ruth L. (Kemmitt) Pecsi. He married Dixie J. Wilson on July 21, 1979, in Brookfield, Missouri.

Festus Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

(Ste. Genevieve County, MO) A man from Festus, 36 year old Donald Miller, is suffering serious injuries following an early morning motorcycle crash today in Ste. Genevieve County. Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol say it happened shortly after 1 am on Route C, just west of Route 32. A car being driven west by 38 year old Sheena Bouse, of Bonne Terre, was stopped in the road. Miller was also driving west and approached Bouses' car from behind. Miller failed to stop and crashed into the rear of her car. He was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Bouse was not injured.

Donald Eugene Trone, 74, of Rushville, died at 8:17 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Area hospitals begin to take action as vaccine mandate deadlines approach

ST. LOUIS ( -- Several St. Louis area hospitals have reached the COVID-19 vaccine mandate deadline for employees. The deadline for both Barnes Jewish Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital systems have passed. BJC said majority of employees have complied, but there are currently 45 staff members who are suspended. Those who are suspended will be terminated if they don't comply by October 15th, according to BJC. Every employee at St. Luke's Hospital is currently vaccinated.
