Marquette man charged in pedestrian-vehicle crash in Hamilton County

AURORA, Neb. — Criminal charges have been filed in a pedestrian-vehicle crash in Hamilton County. Phillip Wiles, 39, of Marquette, has been charged in Hamilton County Court with failure to stop following a fatal accident, which is a felony, and motor vehicle homicide, which is a misdemeanor, following the March 29 death of Alex Sohl, 31, of Phillips.

(Denver, Colo.) The Aurora City Council discussed Monday discussed how best to house those moved from homeless encampments in so-called "safe outdoor spaces." During a study session, most council members indicated they preferred the alternative over renovating the Aurora Day Resource Center. According to city staff, a renovated shelter could hold more than 100 people.

The Path to Commercializing Autonomous Trucking

Aurora has been running a pilot program with FedEx to haul goods between Dallas and Houston via self-driving Paccar trucks since September 2021. As with most other autonomous freight pilots, human safety operators are present in the vehicles, but Aurora’s goal is to operate its trucks fully autonomously by the end of next year. We’ll check in on the pilot’s progress so far, and implications for the future of autonomous trucking.
