Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes new Tractor Supply Store in Ash Flat

The Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting event to welcome the new Tractor Supply Store in Ash Flat on July 29 at 12 noon. The store, located at 578 Hwy 62/412, actually opened its doors on July 17, but its official Grand Opening celebration was the following weekend on July 24 when vendors came and concessions were offered. General Manager Randall Coles said they had a good turn-out of customers from the first day they opened. As for the Grand Opening, he added enthusiastically, “We put a lot of work in to get it all set up and to have everybody come in and enjoy it like they did was well worth it.”

Man cutting wood in Huron County dies after ash tree falls on him

BINGHAM TOWNSHIP, MI -- A 69-year-old Ubly man attempting to cut wood in Huron County died Sunday after a tree fell on him, according to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. The Huron County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, to the scene of a fatal wood cutting accident in the woods near the intersection of Atwater Road and Bad Axe Road in Bingham Township, south of Bad Axe.

Emerald Ash Borer disease is a cause for concern at Henes Park

At yesterday’s Henes Park Board committee meeting the committee received a presentation from Joe Kaplan on the Emerald Ash Borer treatment. Recently, the Ash trees at Henes Park are beginning to show signs of the Ash Borer disease as well as the River Park Campground. Joe Kaplan says, “the disease is coming south to north.”
