Canceled Blueberry/Art Festival Now Going Virtual

ELY, Minn. – The 40th annual Blueberry/Art Festival that was canceled over the weekend due to damaging severe thunderstorms is now going virtual. Festival organizers announced on Facebook Wednesday that they will be hosting a virtual festival “to help the artists and vendors that were impacted” by the storm damage.

J&J’s Pizza, located on the Denton Square, is set to close with its final day of operation being August 10. The 24-year-old restaurant is closing “due to an increase in rent [the owners] just can’t pay,” according to a Facebook post on the J&J’s Facebook page. The owners will be opening a new restaurant in Gainesville called Saint Joe’s Pizza.

Council extends deadline for juried exhibition

BLANDFORD-The Blandford Cultural Council has extended its deadline to apply for its first Artisan Exhibition until Aug. 20, according to secretary Susan Racine. “We already have six exhibitors for the juried exhibition and since the show is new we are still trying to draw people in,” said Racine, noting the purpose of the event is for area residents to enjoy the visual arts and to promote regional artisans.
